Consider getting an emergency key tag to protect your pet when you can’t. Have you ever thought about what would happen to your pet if you are in an accident or incapacitated? It can be pretty scary to contemplate. Luckily, there are some great tools out there that can put your mind at ease and they’re under $10!
If you’re in an accident, you’ll want to alert first responders that you have pets at home,. An emergency key tag can do just that! These little tags hang on your key ring much like a grocery store tag. They are very easy to spot, especially if you are in an accident. The key tags alert first responders to check your wallet for your pet’s emergency contact. It’s a good idea to also include your personal emergency contact as well.
Consider your emergency contact
Consider your pet’s emergency contact carefully. While you may be closest with your best friend, are they really the person who will be able to appropriately care for your pet in an emergency? Keep in mind that your emergency contact won’t be able to be with you if they need to be with your pet. A trusted neighbor or your pet sitter may be a better option. You’ll also want to make sure your emergency contact can also access your home.
If you are a Zoo Sitters client, we’d be happy to be your pet’s emergency contact. We even have some clients who get setup with us just to have their Zoo Sitter on standby in case there is an emergency.
